Holiday with Friends.
I know I`m fortunate in that I was given a pass to go to Portugal for a week with my friends. I honestly thought about not going, with Mia being so young but Claire gave me her blessing and that was enough for me.
I asked Claire to send me a video message of her and Mia daily to let me see the changes in my youngest daughter. This sounded like a good plan and would have been in most circumstances. I made the fatal mistake of arriving in the hotel and having a few beers with the lads. 4 of the lads had been there for a few days and were on a 2 week break. 3 of us decided on a week for various reasons but we managed to get the same hotel.
As soon as we arrived I emptied my case and texted the lads to rendezvous at the bar. We were having a great time and decided to get showered for our first night in Albufeira 2006. The problem was I was bagged up with the beer and decided to skip dinner with the other lads. Rich and James came with me and we hit a few pubs while the rest of the lads chewed down on Steak. If I`d known we would have been out until 7am I might have had a T-Bone.
Anyway we all met up and had a few beers in the old town and then went to the Strip at the new town. I was taking pictures with my phone camera and the flash attachment and my Sony digital camera. I must have taken 50 photos that night.
When I got up the following afternoon I could not find my phone or my camera, I was gutted. I searched everywhere and tried to play back my movements the night before but my mind was a blur. I eventually used my friend Dave`s phone to ask Claire to cancel my phone back home. Dave escorted me to the Police station in the Old Town and I got a report made out. I said on the report that I had lost the items in the taxi and I think this is right. Rich has a picture of me taking a picture at 4am.
Of course this also scuppered my daily video plans. Little did I know then how much I was going to miss Mia and Claire. Dave let me use his phone but it was not the same as I could not access videos or pictures whenever I liked. Claire also sent me a goo goo ga ga video of Mia that got me very emotional.
I had a fantastic holiday but that incident put a black cloud over me and then later in the week there was conflict in the group over women. I took someone's side, (rightly I think), and it caused a bit of a stir. I`ll save the details and I won`t name names, we have put it behind us.
Going to Madeira with Claire, Mia and Claire`s mum, this will be my real relaxing holiday. Having problems uploading my holiday photos to the Blog but I`ll keep trying.
