Hello Mia.

Meet Mia Sheena Rooney my beautiful 9lbs and half an ounce baby girl who was born at 15:31 on the 12th of June 2006. She didn`t want to come out and had to be brought into the world through the sunroof, or as the Doctor called it, the emergency exit.

We had been in hospital since Thursday the 8th of June and 4 attempts at inducing Claire failed. It`s been a long but worthwhile wait to finally meet her. I was in the theatre all the way through the section and Claire was so brave. When Mia`s little head popped out I broke down in tears especially after she gave a little gargled cry.

I didn`t want to leave hospital last night but rules are rules, I made sure I was in early this morning to see the two of them. Mia had been put in the nursery, ( the midwife called it the "naughty" room), overnight as she wouldn`t settle. When I picked her up this morning she had a funny look on her wee face and before I knew it I was covered in sick. It`s not the first time she has covered me in fluids last night before I left the nappy had excess poo flying out the sides of it and I got it everywhere. Claire was giggling and almost crying with pain as it hurts when she laughs. The room looked like I had dropped a tin of dark brown paint.

The joys of fatherhood, I wouldn`t have it any other way. Must dash, I`m going back into hospital to see them again and take in some more baby clothes.
