Claire and Sarah


I was up in Edinburgh on Wednesday night to see my daughter singing in a show, what made me more nervous was that she was going to be singing solo. She is only 11 and the show was a sell out.
When I purchased a programme on the way in I realised that she would be on last, obviously I was going to be nervous for longer. It was a 2 hour show.
Sarah was in the chorus of the preceding songs and they covered some James Bond themes as well as songs from the Wiz and Miss Saigon. Sarah was going to be singing a song called Beautiful Dreamer from the Kids from Fame.
My stomach was churning as her time came and Claire who had travelled up with me reassuringly squeezed my hand, (I could feel her shaking too). The stage was in darkness and then the spotlight appeared on Sarah's face and this amazing angelic voice filled the room, she nailed it. Sarah would never sing for me when I have asked in the past but I soon realised I never had anything to worry about. I had a lump in my throat and I didn`t want her song to end, I was the proudest Dad in the world. I looked to Claire and she was bubbling, she has known Sarah for 6 years and plays a big part in her life.
What a night!
